Roof Restoration of John Brown House
Built in 1830, the John Brown House has stood the test of time. As part of the Summit County Historical Society’s renovation project, Cardinal Group’s roofing specialists took great care to ensure the house will stand for many years. The old shingle roofing and underlayment were removed and rotting or damaged support boards were replaced.
With the building’s original design in mind and to maintain its architectural integrity, Cardinal Group installed an artificial slate roof. The roofing material is constructed of a composite made of pure virgin resins, UV and thermal stabilizers, as well as a highly specialized fire retardant. The project was finished off with copper flashing and new downspouts.
